For ten years, Tom was a practicing trial lawyer before accepting the call in 2001 to become the Senior Pastor of Rio Vista Community Church, a large PCA congregation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is widely known throughout South Florida for his Christ-centered, expositional preaching ministry.

Since 2007, Tom has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Knox Theological Seminary. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Renew South Florida, which exists to identify, develop and resource leaders to start new churches in South Florida. Tom is also both a graduate of and a frequent speaker for Lifework Leadership, an organization which is committed to transforming leaders by clarifying their calling, challenging their minds, and engaging their hearts for service. In addition, Tom has served as a professor of practical theology for Evangelism Explosion, traveling as far as Fiji to train pastors and EE representatives from a variety of nations, specifically in the discipline of preaching Christ from all of the Scriptures. Together with Dr. Gage, Tom has led several biblical study tours to Israel as well as Egypt, Jordan, Greece, and Turkey. He is a happily married father of three children.
